"Compounds in cannabis kill breast cancer cells"
http://mct.aacrjournals.org/content/6/11/2921.full

Whoa there, that's a pretty strong statement.  Even for the American Association of Cancer Research.  Why aren't they using cannibis to kill breast cancer instead of radiation and chemotherapy?

"Cannabis found to kill brain cancer cells"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16078104?dopt=Citation

Wait a minute.  This is from the National Institute of Health, a branch of the Department of Health and Human Services.  Senator Edward Kennedy died of brain cancer.  Why didn't he get cannibis treatment?

Just one problem.  We don't have the money to build enough prisons, let alone pay for the cost of housing all these doctors and patients for breaking the law.  Cannibis is illegal under the Controlled Substances Act.

Regardless of the benefits possible from using cannibis in the treatment of disease, both doctors and patients risk going to prison using this treatment.

There are currently 13 states that have approved the use of medical cannibis. That leaves 37 where all cannibis use is illegal.  The problem is that it is wholey illegal in all 50 states due to Federal law.  The Obama Administration has said they won't pursue users in states where cannibis use is currently legal.

That doesn't make it any less illegal.  To you or your doctor.

Did your hometown DEA agent get the memo?  What about the next President or Attorney General?  What's the policy of your County Sheriff?

How many people are you willing to send to prison for any use of hemp?

In 2007, we arrested nearly 450,000 people for possession of cannibis.  That will cost, at conservative estimates of $500,000 per prisoner for the costs of building and housing, about $225 billion dollars.  That's just for one year.

In a 2003 National Survey National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 40% (94,000,000) Americans age 12 and older had tried cannibis at least once.  Every one of these Americans has a prisonable offense.

To give this number some context, in 2007 we were wringing our hands over a troop surge in Iraq that sent 24,000 additional troops to Iraq than we arrested that year for marijuana possession (just 5.33% of the number of marijuana arrests).

Again I ask, even if everything bad you've ever heard about cannibis is true, how many people are you willing to put into prison?
