"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the
history of mankind." Harry J. Anslinger, Commissioner Federal Bureau of
Narcotics, in 1937 testimony before Congress (1930-1962)
"Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist
brainwashing." Harry J. Anslinger, Commissioner Federal Bureau of Narcotics in 1948 testimony
before Congress (1930-1962)
Huh? Which is it, Harry? You're not just grasping at straws, are
you?
The worst part is, this is all old news.
Right now, there is much emphasis on finding a cure
for breast cancer. Pink ribbons all over, pink goalposts in NFL stadiums, constant news
stories about people supporting a search for a cure.
More targeted radiation, better compounds of chemotherapy, early detection,
prevention through lifestyle changes.
Cure through surgery, poisons and medically acceptable collateral damage
of healthy tissue and symptoms. Lifelong disfigurement and the resulting emotional trauma. Women opting
for pre-emptive mastectomies.
Billions spent in healthcare and
research going to pharmaceutical companies, while the best known option for treatment remains on the shelf,
out of reach.
Ostensibly, because it will make the patient feel good while taking
treatment.
Marijuana.
Cannabis. Hemp. Mary Jane, pot, herb, reefer,
skunk, boom, gangster, kif, ganja, splibs.
Call it what you want. Jeffrey Dach MD
calls it "The Miracle Drug of the 21st Century".
And it's not just for breast cancer
anymore. Dr. Robert Melamede of Colorado State University, a pre-eminent cannabidinol
researcher, can teach you some of the properties of cannabis and it's uses to cure disease.

Our Federal Government bans just one
plant. Hemp. Or as Harry Anslingler, the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics
(FBN) popularized it, marijuana.
States ban other plants based on effects those plants might have on their
ecosystems. For example, different seaweeds are banned by some states. Some mushrooms (read fungi) are
banned because of their effects. Yet, they are allowed to grow wild, naturally, without massive efforts of
detection and eradication.
The United States has determined that one plant must cease to exist from the Planet Earth.
Tobacco? No.
Poppy? No.
Coca? No.
Cannabis? Yes.
Actually, under the United Nations Single Convention, all countries that wish to belong to the UN must adopt a policy of eradication of
cannabis.
Does it make sense to you to eradicate
a plant known to cure many maladies humans suffer while spending many millions to find cures in other unknown
plants?
A plant that is much less toxic than aspirin?
Actually, this plant is so safe as to make its LD-50 (Lethal Dose
50%) meaningless.

Support Legalize the
Cure
We are currently in a debate about Health Insurance
Reform. The issues about who pays for your healthcare services come down to...
Public Option
or
No Government Run Healthcare
Support a third option that makes
sense either way.
Cancer treatment in 2004 equaled $72.1 billion...about 5% of all US Healthcare
spending. That's up from $41.2 billion in 1995, an increase of 75% in those 10 years. Who got that
money? Big Pharma and healthcare providers.
What if curing cancer cost anyone only
a few dollars rather than hundreds of thousands of dollars?
Who would benefit?
You. And every other business in the U.S. except those listed
below.
Imagine what a difference that would make to spending on the nations largest
employer, the Health Care Industry. Or to the roughly 15% of the nation's GDP. Imagine if we
could spend what we spent on healthcare before the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act went into effect now. From what I
can tell, less than 5% of GDP.
Who would lose?
Big Pharma, Big Liquor, Big Oil, Big Lumber, Big Cotton, Big Chemical...the list
goes on.
Your US Government has known of a cure for
cancer at least since 1974, when it stopped all research into cannabis after it was demonstrated in
a University of Virginia study that it killed cancer cells
http://www.alternet.org/story/9257/. After a November 1975 research summit
in California, the Ford administration came up with a policy that said no American independent research or
Federal health program would be allowed to further investigate natural cannabis
derivatives for medicine.
But there was an agreement as to who could study the potential effects of cannabis
as long as it did not produce a 'high'. This after U.S. Government research (1966-1976) had indicated that natural
crude cannabis was the "best and safest choice" for many serious
health problems.
And who got that OK? You guessed it. American Pharmaceutical companies. They tried
to isolate and market an oral drug they called Marinol. THC without the high. It succeeded in giving users a big
headache and little else. So THC was quietly deemed a failure and as such benched.
Please realize that this is meant to be an informative, abbreviated version of
these events. For more detailed information, please see Jack Herer's excellent account.
What you need to know is this...hemp can and does kill
cancer cells and alleviate any number of other ailments. Laboratory and anecdotal evidence have
shown this to be true. Yet, the U.S. Government continues to classify hemp as a Class 1 drug, having no medicinal
value.
Why is hemp classified this way? See a Short History of Hemp or the links
page.
So a third option in this great healthcare debate is to allow you to control your medicine. Easily and cheaply. Demand that you have the
ability to potentially cure serious diseases with a medicine that has an incalculably low toxicity and grows
like...well, a weed. A medicine that nature provides and has been used by humans for at least the last 5,000
years.
A medicine that Big Pharma can't patent and use to extort you.
