This Is How You Can Help Re-Legalize Cannabis

My name is Clyde Cathcart and I don't smoke pot.  At least I haven't for quite a while.

I am a child of the 60's and 70's.  Of course I smoked pot.  I'm not much different than my cohorts of the era.  But due to the penalties, I've had little exposure the past few decades.  Some, but little.

I spent many years working in the health care industry myself.  I helped to sell services to doctors and hospitals.  I know what their motivations are.  I can safely say that they're not always patient driven.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last spring.  I won't tell you her age, but she will readily admit to being older than me.  This news was a shock to not only her, but her sons as well.

Before I continue, you need to know that my mother has spent her entire adult life working as an RN and as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).  She works in the operating room putting people to sleep and making sure they wake up.  She's very familar with cancer surgeries.

She decided to have surgery and undergo radiation for her cancer, but pass on chemotherapy.  With what I knew about cancer treatment, I agreed with her decision.

But it got me looking.  Looking for everything that might be a benefit for her.

Then my father told me that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Since he is also older than me, I encouraged him to think twice about accepting treatment.

I kept looking.  And I found out a lot more than I ever imagined.

For example:

I found a guy who says that he has cured cancer and other chronic diseases with a distillate of hemp.

"You can smoke hemp joints till the cows come home, but it is highly unlikely that smoking hemp will cure your cancer.  And the Government knows  it."

Rick Simpson, on Run from the Cure, talking about the need of using small doses of concentrated THC found in hemp oil instead of taking in a little THC at a time through smoking joints.  Smoking hemp is not enough.  Large quantities of THC are needed.

Wait a minute.  I live in Michigan.  We just voted to legalize medicinal marijuana in 2008.

We can smoke pot to ease the symptoms of chemotherapy poisoning and a few other chronic conditions.  But we can't grow enough to cure anything.

We have to get a doctor to recommend it, buy a permit with approval from the state, and grow it in secret for fear of being busted.  We can grow 12 plants for personal use after all these conditions are met.  People have already been arrested for having 13 plants.  And I'd like to meet the doctor brave enough to recommend this Schedule 1 substance in Michigan.

So I kept looking.  And I found much more.

This is not the first time that someone has asked for cannibis to be legalized on a humanitarian basis.

But, as in the push for Health Care Reform, it might be the best time yet to try it.  Because it ties into all these issues:

  • Health Care Reform and Cost Containment
  • Global Warming
  • Oil Dependence
  • Sustainable Development
  • Curbing Government Spending

And we have an Administration in the White House that has at least put the 'War on Drugs' low on the priority totem pole.

This website is devoted to educating you on the hows and whys of the current state of cannibis criminalization.  I intend to convince you to support legalization based on the overwhelming need for cannibis to be added to the American Formulary for the treatment of disease.
